Im obligated to warn any and all anons who are even remotely curious about its RP server to not go anywhere near it, ever, unless you just want to grief and troll people. 628125664 ppl have been talking about Discovery here. Looks kino, I've downloaded it, going to try it out later on. Just here to fly around blowing stuff up, arcade-style? That's fine too. It has plenty of solid moments - the big fleet battle in Kusari, smashing the Nomad base, the final levels - but the game literally does not give a damn if you never find a jump hole yourself or even get into the way-out systems or find the best ships and weapons. They're so afraid you'll 'miss out' on the 'good stuff' that they often rob it of any meaning or discovery or wonder for the player.įreelancer doesn't give a shit if you find the cool shit. You can enjoy the story while having plenty of room to do what you want.Ī lot of modern vidya is so concerned with you missing the 'cool shit' that it drags you around by the hand to make sure you soak up every bit of crunch they squeezed out of their developers. The game rarely does 'make work' or kills time, it literally tells you to fuck off and figure out how YOU want to make that money/get those levels. 628121098 I think what made Freelancer so good was how the story missions always felt like they were moving forward for the most part. Imagine how great this game would have been if microsoft had Roberts on a leash from the beginning instead of the last 10 minutes.Īnonymous 02/18/23(Sat)06:28:49 No. The soundtrack is easily the best defining feature of the game due to it's pacing and because it has combat versions and cruising versions while also being different for each sector of space you're in. The ships look like something designed to be artsy while still looking like space faring objects instead of lambos with wings. You can basically guide yourself by the huge ice field that crosses Bretonia and reaches up into Kusari. You can see where in the sector Sirius you are by looking around at where the nebulae are positioned and what color they are. You've also got spaniards who got blown up and became drug dealing cartels. You've got the americans in the middle, the british to the left, the asians/japanese on top and then there's the germans on the right. What makes freelancer good is that it's basically planet earth in space. I agree 100% and i've never played everspace because from the get go it looked like it was nothing like freelancer.
